When I was in grade school, my classmates would make fun of my name. They called me "author of a book". Who knew they were speaking a career into my life. I have not become rich yet, but there is a feeling of success when you finally see your work published for the world to see.
I wrote "CrackHead: The Diary of a Lost Soul" after leaving my hometown and moving to a big city where I didn't know anybody. I didn't have any family or friends. I depended totally on God to help me.I asked God to take away the taste of crack cocaine from me. This book is a small snapshot of how messed up my life was. Every thing that my character Sundance deals with is drawn on my own personal experiences. The language is very raw because there is nothing easy about living everyday as a crackhead.
My second book "Look What The Lord Has Done" is the complete story of my travels from New York City to Chicago. Being homeless and a drug addict was probably the hardest thing I have ever encountered. My life changed from a sensible family man working every day to someone living in shelters and sleeping on the ground. This book gives you a look from the homeless perspective of life. We see homeless people but can not truly imagine their struggles with society and daily pressures.
