Look What The Lord Has Done
Here is a sample from the book:
"The driver looks at Sundance as he approaches and says, “Praise the Lord, brother. Do you know that God loves you? Come and worship the Lord at Holy Bible Temple. We can feed you a good hot breakfast this morning. After the church service we can bring you back here.”
A fellow in a brown leather coat shouts, “What time do we get back?”
The driver says, “Between two o’clock and two-thirty. But, you shouldn’t be in such a hurry to get back. Who’s waiting for you, son? The Lord can change your situation of being homeless. The Lord can solve all of your problems.”
The fellow in the leather coat says, “Thanks, but no thanks. I got things to do later. Anybody has a cigarette?”
Sundance has been listening to the driver and decides to ride along. A few guys have already climbed inside the van. Sundance finds a seat and waits on the driver. The driver is trying to convince some more people to come with him. People are walking back and forth. Some guys are begging for cigarettes. Some guys are looking for a familiar face. Other men are just walking on the ‘trail’.
Soon, the van is full with residents from the shelter. It finally starts up and leaves for church."

"Everyone is sitting so close together. There is a strong foul odor coming from the passengers’ clothes. The driver begins to talk to his riders.
The driver says, “My name is Emmanuel and I am a deacon of the church you are about to attend. The name of our church is Holy Bible Temple. I believe you will enjoy yourselves and God has something special planned for you. If you want your situation to change, then you must have a relationship with God. We will serve you a small breakfast before service and bring you back when everything is over.”
One guy riding in the van says, “What does God have for someone like me? A million dollars? Because, that’s what I need.”
“The Bible says, ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all of His righteousness and all these things will be added onto you.’ God can provide everything you need, if you believe,” says the driver.
Sundance says, “I need help. I’m tired of being sick and tired. Can you help me?”
The driver says, “Only Jesus can help you, son. Remember that.”
Someone mumbles under his breath, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”.
The ride is not very long from the shelter to the church. Soon, Sundance and the rest of the riders exit the van in front of the church. The front doors of the church are glass. The building is brick with stained glass windows. The driver holds the church doors open for the crowd of men. The lobby is lit up with bright lights in the ceiling. Blue carpet covers the lobby floor. There is a man and women dressed in dark uniforms with white gloves standing just inside of the lobby. As Sundance gets closer, he can see the nameplates on their uniform which reads ‘Usher”. The ushers walk Sundance and his fellow riders to their seats. The first thing Sundance notices is that he is allowed to sit among the regular church members. Not some roped off area away from everybody. Soft music from an organ is playing in the church. The choir is standing quietly to the left."

"After a few moments, the choir begins to sing. Everyone stands and begins to clap their hands to the music. Sundance looks around the sanctuary at the pretty ladies in their fine clothes. The men are wearing their finest suits and matching shoes. Sundance starts to feel a little out of place. His clothes are not so fine. The choir ends their singing and a tall, stocky man wearing a beautiful red velvet gown walks to a glass podium.
He begins to pray into a microphone with his head bowed. After the prayer, another younger man walks to the podium with a Bible. He reads a scripture and sits down.
The man who is wearing the red velvet gown walks to the podium again and says, “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Welcome on this fine morning and God Bless each and every one of you. I am Pastor Taylor and this is Holy Bible Temple. I am so very happy to see each and every one of you in the house of the Lord.”
The church service is two hours long. Then the members attending worship stand and hug one another. A man comes over to Sundance and shakes his hand with a smile on his face. The man shaking Sundance’s’ hand says, “God loves you. He really does. Come and worship with us again.”
On the way back to the shelter, Sundance thinks about what just happened today. Before the end of church service, Pastor Taylor asked if there was anyone who wishes to be saved by Christ. Sundance almost got up out of his seat and walked to the front of the church. Something inside of Sundance was tugging at his heart. It didn’t hurt. It just felt right."
